I recently met up with Dane and Dolora and their lovely children and grandchildren, who had flown in from all corners of the country for the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary party at the Marsh Harbor clubhouse.
I had no idea what sort of event to expect, and was happily blown away by the vivacious and nattily dressed gang, as well as the absolutely lovely decor by Out of Hand and catering from the staff at Cru Cafe.
These guys know how to throw a party.
Check out this this floral wreath arrangement. Isn’t it scrumptious? I don’t think photographs do it justice, but in person, it was so pretty and whimsical.

Mix-and-match tea-stained (I think?!) crocheted linens. I love the color scheme, and the natural simplicity with a bit of a feminine flair.
I’m sure they were all counting the moments until they could rip off their jackets, (and I got out of their faces) but they were such good sports, and it was lovely to see all these wonderful boys dressed in their traditional Lowcountry best.
But they’re still boys.

Jodi and Justin got married in a lovely ceremony at the Francis Marion Hotel.
Jodi has this delicate yet grounded sort of old world beauty about her.
Many of the images of the wedding look like they could be out of an Edith Wharton novel to me.
I took these shots while the happy married couple took a break. I knew I wanted some close-ups of her birdcage veil, and flowers and eyes and such, so I asked them if they wanted to take 10 minutes during the cocktail hour to just rest while I photographed them. They gratefully sank into two marshmallowy chairs in the hotel lobby and chatted aimlessly.
I think I’m going to try to include Flop Time in all future wedding portrait time slots.
This was freelensed.
